Charoite: Siberia’s Rare Swirling Silicate
Charoite is a strikingly unique silicate mineral, instantly recognizable by its vivid lavender to deep violet swirls and fibrous chatoyancy. First described in 1978 and named after the nearby Chara River, charoite has only been discovered in a single locality: the Aldan Shield in the Sakha Republic, Siberia, Russia.
This rare mineral forms under unusual geological conditions—specifically where syenite from the Murun Massif intrudes into and alters limestone, creating a potassium-rich metasomatite rich in feldspar and charoite.
Coveted for both its beauty and exclusivity, charoite is a favorite among mineral collectors and lapidary artists seeking rare and eye-catching material.
This collection features hand-selected charoite specimens and cabochons, chosen for their color, pattern, and polishability.
10% of every purchase supports environmental foundations in charoite-producing regions.
