Background:
Jade has been revered across civilizations for thousands of years. In Stone Age Europe, China, and the Americas, nephrite jade was shaped into tools, ornaments, and ritual objects. By the 18th century, jadeite from Burma (now Myanmar) reached China, where master carvers created works that remain unsurpassed in artistry.
In Central America, jadeite was treasured by the Maya and Aztecs for its spiritual and medicinal qualities. The very word "jade" originates from the Spanish piedra de ijada (“stone of the pain in the side”), named after its early use in healing practices.
These Burmese jadeite freeform slices showcase natural tones of white, light green, and dark green, making them ideal for collectors, lapidary work, or display.
