Andradite Garnet: Brilliance Named in Honor
Andradite is a distinguished member of the garnet group, classified as a nesosilicate mineral known for its exceptional brilliance and dispersion—especially in its gem-quality varieties such as demantoid and melanite.
First described in 1868 from an occurrence in Drammen, Buskerud, Norway, andradite was named after José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva—a Brazilian statesman, naturalist, and poet whose contributions to science left a lasting legacy in mineralogy.
With colors ranging from vivid green to deep black, andradite garnets are admired for their luster and rarity. The green demantoid variety, in particular, is one of the most brilliant gemstones in the world, often rivaling diamond in fire.
This collection includes carefully selected andradite specimens and gemstones, chosen for their visual intensity, rarity, and origin.
10% of every purchase supports environmental foundations in garnet-producing regions.
