The Zuni are Native American Pueblo Peoples native to the Zuni River valley. The current day Zuni are a Federally Recognized Tribe and most live in the Pueblo of Zuni on the Zuni River, a tributary of the Little Colorado River, in western New Mexico, United States. In addition to the reservation, the tribe owns trust lands in Catron County, New Mexico, and Apache County, Arizona.
The Sunface is an ancient symbol in Zuni culture, where it represents the sacred Sun Father. The Zuni have always honored the Sun's vital role in the cycling of seasons and the success of crops, recognizing that the Sun's warmth sustains life, enables growth, and brings joy and prosperity to the people.
